Welcome to Chrysalis Design Studio. This is a space built on creativity, intention, and genuine care, for the work, and for the people who engage with it. By accessing or using this website and any of its offerings, you agree to the terms outlined below. Please take a moment to read them.
1. About Chrysalis Design Studio
Chrysalis Design Studio is a multidisciplinary creative business based in Maui, Hawaiʻi, owned and operated by Jean Marie Johnson. The studio currently offers the following:
Art & Photography Prints — fine art and photography wall prints produced on demand through Gelato, a third-party print fulfillment partner.
Business Design Services — creative and strategic design services for businesses, offered on a project basis and through ongoing retainer engagements.
CalmTube — a free digital content offering.
These Terms & Conditions apply to all of the above offerings unless otherwise specified.
2. Use of This Website
By using this website, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, or are accessing the site under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. You agree to use this site for lawful purposes only and not to engage in any conduct that could damage, disable, or impair the site or interfere with any other party’s use of it.
Chrysalis Design Studio reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of this website at any time without notice.
3. Art & Photography Print Products
Made to Order
All print products are produced on demand through Gelato’s global fulfillment network. Each piece is made uniquely for you at the time of purchase. As such, we do not hold inventory, and orders cannot be cancelled once placed.
Pricing & Payment
All prices are listed in US Dollars. Payment is processed securely through Squarespace’s integrated payment system. Chrysalis Design Studio does not store payment information.
Shipping
Shipping timelines are estimates and may vary based on your location and the fulfillment partner’s production schedule. Chrysalis Design Studio is not responsible for delays caused by carriers or customs processes outside of our control.
Returns, Refunds & Replacements
Please refer to our full Return, Refund & Exchange Policy for complete details. In summary: we do not accept returns for change of mind, but we will arrange a replacement or refund for items that arrive damaged, defective, or incorrect, provided you contact us within 30 days of receipt with supporting photos.
Color Variation
Colors may appear differently on screen than in print. This is a natural characteristic of the printing process and is not considered a defect.
4. Business Design Services
Scope of Services
Business Design services are provided under separate agreements between Chrysalis Design Studio and each client. These agreements — whether a project proposal, contract, or statement of work — govern the specific deliverables, timelines, fees, and terms applicable to each engagement. In the event of any conflict between those agreements and these Terms & Conditions, the specific client agreement shall take precedence.
Project-Based Engagements
For one-time or project-based work, payment terms, revision rounds, and deliverable specifications will be outlined in a project proposal or contract provided prior to commencement of work.
Retainer Engagements
For ongoing retainer relationships, the terms of the retainer agreement — including scope, fees, notice periods, and termination clauses — will be established in a separate written agreement.
Intellectual Property
Upon full payment, clients receive ownership of the final agreed deliverables. Chrysalis Design Studio retains the right to display work in its portfolio unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing. Any preliminary concepts, drafts, or unused designs remain the intellectual property of Chrysalis Design Studio.
Confidentiality
Chrysalis Design Studio treats all client information with discretion and will not share confidential business information with third parties without written consent, except as required by law.
5. CalmTube
CalmTube is a free digital content offering provided by Chrysalis Design Studio. Content is made available for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not reproduce, distribute, or repurpose CalmTube content without prior written permission.
Chrysalis Design Studio makes no warranties regarding the completeness, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose of CalmTube content. The content is offered as-is, in the spirit of calm and creativity.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including but not limited to photography, artwork, written copy, brand assets, and design — is the original work of Jean Marie Johnson / Chrysalis Design Studio and is protected by applicable copyright law.
You may not reproduce, copy, distribute, or use any content from this site for commercial purposes without express written permission. Personal, non-commercial sharing with proper attribution is welcomed.
7. Privacy & Personal Data
Chrysalis Design Studio collects personal information — including names and email addresses — for the purposes of processing orders, communicating with clients, and sending occasional updates to those who have opted in.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Data is handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and Squarespace’s privacy practices, which govern data collected through this website’s platform.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chrysalis Design Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of this website or any of its offerings. 10. Third-Party Services
This website is built on the Squarespace platform and uses Gelato for print fulfillment. These third-party services have their own terms of service and privacy policies, which apply independently of these Terms & Conditions. Chrysalis Design Studio is not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.
11. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Hawaiʻi, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Maui County, Hawaiʻi.
12. Changes to These Terms
Chrysalis Design Studio reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the website following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
